Seven Indie Games To Keep An Eye On

One of my big takeaways from 2026 is how I really got to experience all kinds of indie games for the first time. Normally, I write about various games that I happen to play, and those include a wide variety of titles. This year I really got to sit back and try out games from new-to-me developers and some that are new to creating their own video games. It really showed what kind of hidden gems are out there that could use some more support for the hard work that goes into them. So how about we take a look at a few that have caught my eye. The list is in no particular order.

Soverain:

Soverain is a turn-based RPG that recently celebrated an incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign. In fact, I donated to this one myself to be able to create a playable character to add to it. This turn-based tactical RPG takes inspiration from classic Fire Emblem but adds unique and modernized visuals, comes fully voiced, and includes music from legendary composer Motoi Sakuraba. The game is currently in development, and you can learn all about it by visiting their Twitter/X account.

Dreamsend Wintersong:

I was introduced to this game at Momocon, and it quickly became one of the highlights of the weekend. To put that in perspective, I met all kinds of VTubers and the cast of Critical Role, and I absolutely put my time playing this game at that level. This turn-based tactical RPG takes place in a cyberpunk setting and really sets itself apart from other titles in this genre. It’s fun, challenging, and I’m very excited to see more as it just released its first trailer. Make sure to follow them for all updates because you’re going to want to be prepared when this comes out.

Robot Rhapsody:

Here’s a title that recently celebrated its own successful Kickstarter campaign, and one I also donated to myself. So if you see an NPC that seems vaguely familiar, you’ll know why. This turn-based RPG takes place in a world on the verge of ruin at the hands of AI. What made this game interesting to me was the smooth combat, incredible visuals, and fun mechanics such as evolving NPCs who adapt based on how you encounter them. Make sure to give their socials a follow and get excited for when this game comes out.

Llewl and the Lyre of Two Worlds:

Here’s a game I came across and loved the presentation so much I had to give the demo a try. You can even see my thoughts on how much fun it was right here. It has a presentation that reminds me of Golden Sun, but features innovative turn-based combat and amazing quality-of-life additions. Movement from place to place is far easier than in any game I’ve come across with this art style. I also backed this game to have an NPC somewhere in the world, and thanks to its successful Kickstarter campaign, we’ll get to see more when it comes out. You can find more about this entertaining game right here.

Food Devils:

Here’s a title that I didn’t know about until well after its Kickstarter campaign, but I did get a chance to try out the demo. If you’re ever craving food, turn-based tactical gameplay, and sexy devils, then you’ve come to the right place. With gameplay inspired by titles like Fire Emblem, but adding a calorie consumption element that really makes it stand out, we have a title that is sure to curve your wildest gaming cravings. Here’s the best place to see more of what it has to offer.

Caspian’s Quest:

This is a game that I found out thanks to a VTuber from RaMe that you’ve heard me mention several times before. You know me: if someone I actively support has their eye on something, I have to check it out myself. Caspian’s Quest is a side-scrolling title that weaves together all kinds of interesting gaming elements. It’s a cozy title with a dating sim element, some RPG mechanics including combat, harvesting, and travel. As you gather supplies to rebuild the world around you, everything starts to get livelier, and you gain access to more parts of the world to explore. It’s a fun title that needs your help, as it’s currently in the middle of a Kickstarter campaign and every donation helps bring it one step closer to development. I’m planning on donating myself, just haven’t picked which tier I’m going for.

Heroes of Anirea:

Here’s a game I got to try out very recently, and I had a great time playing it. It also features Fire Emblem like gameplay and really does a great job presenting those elements in its own unique style. It’s still very early in development, but it will be live on Kickstarter at a later date. If you want to be ready for when that happens, make sure to give them a follow.

This is quite a lineup, and I’m really looking forward to more to come from all of them. I’m also looking for more indie games to get my hands on, so if you’re a developer working on your own title, reach out, and I’ll be happy to give it a try.
