So this story takes place around Halloween of 2021 right after we attended both Anime Weekend Atlanta and Soda City Comic Con in the same weekend. Which was very exhausting but worthwhile. We were on our way home and decided to watch the new My Hero Academia movie. For context, we went to a theater we weren’t familiar with since our local one was past our home and we did not want to do anymore driving than we had to.
Going to the movies was easy enough we arrived to one located in a mall in Knoxville and we got our tickets, but what we didn’t know was that the movies closed after the mall did. So when the movie ended we attempted to go out the same way we came in only to find that it was now a locked door. So no big deal we decided we would walk around and find another exit, but turns out that was not so easy.
Remember how I said it was Halloween? So at that point a manager in a Sheriff’s outfit comes up to us and goes “I reckon you must be lost in these parts.” No I’m not joking he really went all in on the costume which was awesome. So at that point we explained we were looking for a way out and he led us to this back area of the mall for employees only and down a flight of stairs which took us to an employee only exit that happened to be near where we parked.
At this point the sun was setting so he just looks in the direction of the setting sun and goes “ending the day helping the people is what a sheriff does best.” He then pauses before wishing us a safe travel home and walks back in the mall.
To this day I still have no idea what was the correct exit.
