Video games have featured a wide variety of different inventions. Many of these creations are used simply for combat purposes, but then there are the inventions that have a more unique function. Video games have introduced items that revolutionize the day to day activities of the characters in the game, but these items can be just as impactful for people in the real world. Many of these ideas don’t exist in the real world, but would be a huge improvement to quality of life.

Xenoblade Chronicles X – The LifeHold

The Lifehold was created when the humans in Xenoblade Chronicles X realized that the earth would be destroyed. The Lifehold has two functions in the game. Its first function is to store the lives of millions of people as data and the second function is to create human bodies, to place the data in to recreate a person. For this article we will focus on the second function. The ability to synthesize a whole human body has great potential in the real world. We currently have hundreds of people on the donor list waiting for vital organs such as hearts, lungs, kidneys and more. If we had the ability to create a whole human body, then that ability can be scaled down to create specific organs. People would no longer have to wait to find someone who donated a compatible organ, instead they could be created on the spot.

This ability to create organs can also apply to severed limbs. One of the main issues with a severed limb is getting it to the hospital in time to be reattached. This requires finding the limb, putting it on ice and then hoping that you can get to the hospital on time. However, this would no longer be needed because a new limb can be created in its place. This has the ability to save countless lives if we had this technology.

Super Mario Sunshine – F.L.U.D.D.

F.L.U.D.D. is a device mounted onto Mario’s back that allows him to shoot powerful bursts of water at a target. Without any modifications, or alterations, F.L.U.D.D. has two modes, a spray mode and a hover mode. The spray mode shoots the powerful streams of water forward, while the hover mode shoots them downward with enough force to propel Mario upward, for a short period of time. This can be very useful for Firefighters, as the equipment takes time to set up. With F.L.U.D.D., setting up is a simple as putting on a backpack. It would only take a brief moment to be ready to start addressing the fire. With F.L.U.D.D., multiple Firefighters would be able to address the fire, while other Firefighters got the bigger equipment ready. This would ensure that the fire does not spread while preparing to quell the flames.

Firefighters can also use F.L.U.D.D.’s portability to enter buildings that are on fire to look for people trapped inside. One major hurdle is dealing with the flames inside the building while looking for people. With F.L.U.D.D. they can spray the fires and open up passageways to look and evacuate trapped civilians. Overall, F.L.U.D.D. has the potential to make things easier for people that are responsible for keeping other people safe, and that in turn increases the efficiency of saving lives.

Megaman Battle Network Transmission– Net Navis

A Net Navi is an artificial being that exists within electronic devices called P.E.T. In the games, they battle each other, hack into devices and function as portable companions. We live in a world full of technology, and with that technology comes a wide variety of problems that are difficult to solve. Computers can easily be infected with viruses, devices might not be paring up like they are supposed to or the wifi is not functioning. Net Navis can be used to help troubleshoot these problems and even provide a friend to talk to that you can take anywhere. This will make it easier for people to understand technology. Since technology plays a huge factor in everyone’s lives, this will make it less frustrating for people when devices break down.

Assassin’s Creed – The Animus

The Animus is a device that allows a person to experience the life of another person from the past in a virtual reality-like experience. If this device was used in the real world, it would be a huge benefit to those attempting to discover what we still don’t know about history. By living through the lives of people who experienced major historical events, it will give a much more vivid understanding of the events that took place. This invention could be a huge benefit in discovering the mysterious of the past that have alluded us for so long.

All of these inventions created great plot elements for their respective games. If these devices were to ever exist in the real world then they would all provide a huge benefit to the overall quality of life. These items have the power to save lives, uncover mysterious and provide answers to our problems. Hopefully there is someone inventive enough to find a way to bring these ideas to life.
