So this was a fairly recent story and involved our return trip from Anime Weekend Atlanta 2022.  To set the scene my friend was driving because we made an agreement that if they didn’t have to spend anything for the hotel then they drove to the event.  Which normally works out very well but unfortunately this story involves a literal wrong turn.

So we decided on our way back to make a pit stop to use the restroom and get some pop for the road.  We picked an exit with a gas station very close to the interstate basically to navigate as little as possible.  The problem was after we were done and decided to get back on the road.  The road we were on was a one-way and required us to turn away from the interstate and make a U-turn to make our way back; however, my friend sadly missed that detail and turned left and we were then faced with oncoming traffic.  Luckily the gas station we were at had multiple entryways and my friend was able to quickly make a turn into one of them.  It was a scarily close call though as I was on the rear passenger side and during the turn, a car came dangerously close to hitting us.  Close enough that I was able to see the look of sheer terror on the face of the other driver. 

Now, these things do happen as after a convention your mental stamina takes a hit; however, it’s equally important to note that while this mistake was understandable it’s a mistake that could have ended much worse than it did.  Luckily nobody was harmed and we made it home safe and sound but everyone was wide awake after a scare like that.  This was a very eye-opening lesson to us that even as careful as all of us are individually dangerous situations can happen very easily and I hope this is a lesson received by anyone reading this to be very careful when traveling.
