Any fan of anime knows the value a talented voice actor adds to the show; however, a lesser known fact is that many voice actors also pursue singing and songwriting. In fact it’s quite common in the voice over industry and makes perfect sense considering how well they have managed to wow audiences using there voices. Here we will highlight 12 of these amazing people.
Note: Normally I use pictures for these blogs but I often times take pictures of my own content or use screenshots of anime. In this case I don’t know whether or not I have permission to use the pictures so I’m playing it safe and not using them.
Nicole Gose
Best known for her roles in Fire Emblem: Heroes as well as Hero Mask, Nicole is also a singer and a songwriter of incredible talent. On her website you can find samples of her music which are quite entertaining to listen to and on her Twitter you can find other samples of her music and original anime short videos. Note: some of the videos are best viewed by 18+ audiences but if you can watch them they are quite entertaining.
Bryson Bagus
Bryson plays the lead on Is it Wrong to Try and Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon and Haikyuu and also enjoys singing on his Youtube channel. You can hear him doing covers of songs with a level of difficulty that many singers shy away from such as House of the Rising Sun by The Animals and I Want To Break Free by Queen. On another note my wife and I are a fan of his anime work and I played his cover of House of the Rising Sun to my wife and she was quite amazed by Bryson’s singing talent. I recommend giving a listen as his music is great for any fan of the rock genre.
Amanda Gish
Amanda is most known for her work as the Witch in Goblin Slayer and her roles in other shows such as Dragonball Super, My Hero Academia, Keijo and just recently announced a new role on One Piece. What you may not know is Amanda is quite a fan of K-Pop and has some of her covers on her Youtube Channel under the name Black Rose Garden. I don’t listen to a lot of K-Pop myself but I know what I like and I really enjoyed listening to her music.
Cristina Vee
Cristina Vee is known for so many many roles in shows such as Seven Deadly Sins, Sailor Moon and Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans and has quite the popular Youtube Channel. On her channel you can find covers done by Cristina from famous animes, animated movies, video games and more. She does an incredible job recreating some very well known songs such as Lifelight in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.
Brianna Knickerbocker
As heard on shows such as Rising of the Shield Hero, Seven Deadly Sins, Re Zero and many more, Brianna also produces her own original music under the name Starless on her Youtube Channel. She has quite a number of songs on her channel and does a great job creating videos to really bring her music to life.
Mela Lee
Mela Lee is known for her work in the Fate series and Fire Emblem. She can also be heard under the name Magnolia Memoir on Youtube singing original songs with a very unique and talented voice. Fun fact you can also find Brianna Knickerbocker in the video for the song Afterlife. I suggest giving that a listen if you haven’t yet.
Johnny Young Bosch
Before landing roles such as the lead in Bleach and Trigun, Johnny also played a Power Ranger on multiple seasons of the show. After that Johnny became the lead singer of a band called Eyeshine. The band has disbanded as of 2017 but you can still hear their music on Youtube as well as on their website. Also if you happen to catch Johnny at a convention he can often be seen with copies of Eyeshine CD’s. I got my CD from him at Yama con in 2019 and the band was so enthusiastic about the music it became one of the highlights of the event.
Abby Trott
Best known for Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Demon Slayer and also the singer of the song Limelight in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. Abby’s singing became the highlight of every Smash Brothers fan when she sang the first ever song for the series. You would be hard pressed to find a video game fan that hasn’t heard her singing by this point but if you want to here Limelight or if you want to hear more of her music you can find it on her website.
Rena Strober
Rena is most known for her works in various video games such as Trails of Cold Steel and Fire Emblem. She also sings one of the most recognizable songs of the Fire Emblem series Lost in Thoughts All Alone. You can find her work on her Youtube Channel where you will also find she is producing a children’s album featuring songs that I think would be quite entertaining for them.
Alejandro Saab
You can hear him in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, My Hero Academia and Rising of the Shield Hero, Alejandro also goes by the name We.B on his Youtube channel. There you can hear him do excellent covers of songs found in various anime and video games. I highly recommend giving his channel a listen. Also at the time of writing he’s at 96K subs so hopefully soon we can get him to 100K.
Bonnie Gordon
Bonnie can be heard on games such as Street Fighter and Fire Emblem Echos: Shadows of Valentia. While Bonnie plays a character in Fire Emblem you can also hear her singing the credits songs with incredible skill. She is also part of the group known as the Library Bards where together they create nerd parodies of famous songs with lyrics centered around fandoms such as Lord of the Rings, Pokemon and Star Trek. I had an amazing listening to them live from near the front row at Anime Expo 2018 and it was an absolute joy to hear and meet them. You can find their songs on their Youtube channel.
Jamison Boaz
You can hear Jamison in Fire Emblem: Heroes as well as Aggretsuko. He performs music under the name Episilon Zero where he produces an array of original metal music. You can find all of his work on Spotify and I highly recommend giving them a listen.
