Have you ever been lied to? Been influenced by people who claimed to be paragons of justice, only to find their true selves behind a mask of deceit? When your heroes don’t turn out like you hope, or when you realize society worships people they shouldn’t, it’s hard to resume being a part of such a corrupt mentality. Aizen spent their life being fed a lie and emerged as a fallen savior upon learning the truth. It’s a tale ingrained even in their very name, as Aizen was chosen from a few of its meanings, like devotion, loyalty, and kindness, while Gomen means I’m sorry.
Aizen was born as an only child in a farming valley of the village of Ohlark. Their parents raised them to be wary of the monsters and spirits that lurk in the forests outside the village. Children who wander after dusk risk getting snatched by the creatures of the night. Of course, these stories terrified Aizen, but that’s ok because the village had the Saviors. A group of protectors who keep the people safe from harm and earn the admiration of many, including Aizen.
Then one ordinary day, Aizen stumbled upon a forest spirit while tending to the crops. It looked like a sort of fluffy rodent and not at all scary like the stories made them out to be. It was just a small creature digging at the roots of a vegetable, with a little help from Aizen. The creature was startled and ran off, so Aizen left some food out for it and watched from afar. It clearly wasn’t scary, and you could consider it cute. Over time, they bonded with the creature alongside many of its friends. They would sit together as Aizen fed them and learned quite a bit. People phase through spirits normally, but after earning their trust, you can actually pet them.
Aizen realized that not all spirits were evil, but they could never tell anyone in the village that. The labels that come with spreading a contradiction to what they vehemently believe. This is the start of a story that led to Aizen meeting their heroes and learning of all the lies they were told. In the end, they were the destroyers the entire time and Saviors of nobody. Thus beginning their fall from grace.
In the meantime, fans can enjoy the fun content they provide. Aizen is a variety streamer with a fan of indie horrors as well as an author and a game developer. In fact, they are working on a game and book series called Tales of Esoterica, where you can enjoy this story in full. Some of their favorite games include Undertale, Elevator Hitch, and Oblivion. They also stream fanfics nights with another content creator, LinkLoveBB, and you’ll never know what to expect, so you’ll have to watch them live on Twitch to find out.
