So I’ve been meaning to get more into reviewing steam games for awhile now but never got around to it. Then I saw Berserk B.I.T.S and was motivated to change that. This is a game clearly inspired by the Megaman Battle Network Series and so it was something that caught my interest immediately.
Here’s how the game works. When you open the game it pops up four small displays that you can customize anywhere on your computer screen. One is for things like settings, buying stuff etc. Then you have a display for your programs (I’ll go more in detail on that later. A display for the in game internet that your character navigates and one for the battle chips used in combat.
To play the game simply drag your character to a spot on the internet and it’ll travel and fight automatically. As it’s traveling the programs you have will generate battle chips that do various effects from defense, attacks and healing. You can either use as you set fit or set it to automatically use them. Your character will travel the net defeating viruses while collecting money, program eggs and materials. That’s what you can use to set up a pretty neat system for your gameplay.
You can pick programs that create battle chips that fit your playstyle, add healing or money earning bots and even bots that help with automation. You get programs by finding program eggs either by traveling the internet or through the in game gacha system where you spend bits to get gacha coins. Bots have to be fed or they stop producing chips, furthermore some bots need to be shaken to collect health or money periodically. At first it took me a bit to figure out all the mechanics; however, once I did I managed to set up a method that works for me.
This is not the kind of game you have to actively be involved with. Once I got things set up to what I like I just spend a few seconds setting stuff up, or buying food for my bots and then wait for the results. I’m actually playing the game right now as I type this.
I also really like this game aesthetically. The visuals all give me a unique take on a Megaman vibe and I love that a lot. The customizable layout is equally amazing as you can change the size of the displays for your game, what monitor they display on and more. It’s something I like to have running in the background as I do other tasks.
Overall this is a game that is fun to play. Once you figure out the mechanics you can get it up to where in a few clicks you can have the game running and going strong as you go about your day. I’ve played this game while on the computer, working out and even walked away for a bit and game back to it. It’s well worth the almost $7 I paid for it. The game is easy to play, a lot of fun and looks fantastic.
