There are two things that are constant in the span of existence. All things have a beginning as well as an end. It is often when things end when we are truly able to appreciate the fact that they began in the first place. The story we tell today embodies preserving things that end so that at the very least the memory of them existing will be eternal. This is the story of iolite. The header art is by Ethan Mcguire.

The world was once full of life, magic and technology the likes of which you could marvel for an eternity. However, in due time the human race eventually destroyed itself. Before their demise a lone human constructed a Gem-Heart. In their final act of life they created an artificial being powered by pure gemstones. This was iolite and her mission was to record what was left of humanity. The art, games, music and the myriad of creations preserved in a digital world known as the Virtual Dreamscape. An idea to preserve the good of humankind rather than its violent nature.

Without any memories, iolite had no understanding of the impact of the devastation and thus had no discomfort for what was lost. Void of any empathy she did as she was designed to do and preserved data through all corners of the globe. In doing so she began to understand what was truly lost in the destruction. The beauty and wonder that used to be. She began to mourn and in her revelation came a new determination to continue her mission until it is completed.

Over time more of the remnants of humanity deteriorated and the Virtual Dreamscape began to collapse. iolite continued her mission until the day she finally completed it. Now with a source that contained all of the vital data her new task was to preserve it for the future. When the world will begin anew, iolite will be waiting to show it the beauty of the world that came before it.

Part of what she preserves includes the wonderful games she plays on Twitch and Youtube. Those titles include Honkai Star Rail, Elden Ring, Persona 5 Royal, Fire Emblem (you know that got my attention), as well as a variety of rpgs and souls games.
