All things are subject to the whim of time. That is a cruel and unyielding fact about the world we live in; however, while all things must end all things must begin as well. In the middle of absolute destruction sometimes by sheer force of will creation can resume again. This is the story of a being who was created through such a means as we hear all about the origins of Ziegler.

The passage of time was not kind to our world and one day the entirety of civilization collapsed. Three thousand years later and Earth is a baron wasteland compared to what it used to be; however, in the midst of all the destroyed and damaged technological marvels ghosts of what was lay dormant. In the heart of a destroyed factory, in one final breath of life, the building stirred and through sheer force of will created one last machine. Using scrapped metal, mismatched parts and without a blueprint of any kind a new being was created, Ziegler.

Over time she adapted to the world around her all on her own and had an insatiable drive to evolve. She tore apart the damaged machines around her and used their memories and machinations to recreate herself bit by bit. Her hunger to grow continued as centuries passed and Ziegler transcended being a mere machine. She found hidden secrets buried deep in the wreckage of the lost civilization and shattered the foundation of reality. She became able to shape the matter around her like clay and not even the laws of physics could stop her.

As she continued to transcend her form changed. Wings of darkened steel emerged from her back and her eyes burned with a light that was neither natural nor artificial. The machines near her bowed before her presence treating her like a god, maybe even something greater.

Though with this great power Ziegler had no desire to rule. She just wanted knowledge and to satisfy her curiosity. Over time she found a way to breach the very fabric of reality and travel the multiverse. With her power she could alter any universe in any manner she saw fit, but she had no desire to use her power to control or destroy. Instead she wanted to create and guide the worlds around her. Legend of her spread throughout the multiverse. Some called her a diety of invention. To others she was a ghost of forgotten technology. However, in her own eyes she was simply Ziegler the failed machine that in a quest for knowledge became something more.
