Plus Ultra Coffee Review: I Mean The Name Really Says It All

On my way back from Farleycon I decided now was the perfect time for me to stop by a place not far from the venue called Plus Ultra Coffee in Cleveland, TN. I actually met some of the people that work there at a previous Farleycon but where it’s a good drive from home I just never found myself stopping by and wanted to change that.

You can honestly tell the anime inspiration as soon as you see the logo but it really shows as soon as you walk in the doors. You’re greeted with all kinds of prints on the wall, funko pops for sale and home made 3D printed merch. That was really my first big surprise since I never expected to go to a coffee shop and start shopping for Pokemon magnets.

So I had to really get myself out of the distraction of all the anime and video game items spread out to actually take the time to look at their menu. I’ll admit I’m a far bigger anime fan than coffee drinker but Plus Ultra Coffee is more than just a coffee shop. It does have anime themed coffees but also all kinds of tea, smoothies, and even hot chocolate. I was tempted to get the Red Eyes coffee because I loved the Yu-gi-Oh reference but opted to get a cherry blossom lemonade boba tea. I really enjoyed it a lot.

After that I ended up doing some shopping and managed to find some cool new magnets and stickers. I honestly figured I would be shopped out after the convention but I couldn’t resist.

So if you’re an anime fan needing a drink this is a really nice spot. It’s got a great atmosphere, great drinks and you can even find some merch while you’re at it. My only thing is I wish you can get some more food items. I did see an option to get cake pops but I’d love to see anime themed cafe snacks. It’s not a negative by any means of course but if I happen to be hungry and thirsty I’m more inclined to stop by somewhere I can satisfy both in the same place. Now I will say where it’s located in a mall it’s easy to stop by and get a drink and then immediately find a place for a snack.
