High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even In Another World Season One Review: Each Character Had A Wonderful Chance to Shine

I do like me a good isekai and I found another one to enjoy the other day. Probably the other week by the time this comes out but still. High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even In Another World stars seven characters all of which are renowned for a particular talent in the real world. These talents include finance, politician, samurai, doctor, ninja, inventor and magician. While these seven prodigies were on a flight the plane crashed and they found themselves in an entirely new world. Now they must use their incredible gifts to change the world they are in.

So normally I start with the story but with seven leads this is a very character focused show so I’m going to talk about the characters first. The thing that immediately fascinated me was how none of them got special powers upon entering the new world. Instead their overpowered skills come from their own natural talents that they use to the fullest. For example the finance expert uses his knowledge of making money to help increase revenue for the local town that took care of them as they healed from the crash. The inventor used technology from the plane and managed to slowly modernize the world. You have the samurai and ninja who handle a lot of the combat for the season while the magician plays a more spoiler filled role so I need to keep quiet on that. The doctor heals the sick and wounded while the leader crafts plans and helps hold everything together as the seven prodigies literally shape the world.

I love how the season regularly used each character but while we have seven leads the story focuses on Tsukasa the politician. This leads me to talking about how the story was executed. As the prodigies pay back the people who were kind to them they noticed a lot of problems in the world they were in. So using their skills they literally started to reform the world and slowly taking it over as neighboring countries retaliated on their advancement. You also get a lot of bits and pieces of lore that appear to hint at why these seven people were summoned but for this season the story was focused on how they changed the world around them. I liked how instead of doing a bunch of lore drop right away the story gave room for us to see what these seven could do as individuals and collectively. It’s a very character driven show and we really got to see what they could do and it was impressive.

The combat is also rather quick as only two of the seven really excel in it. So combat is not going to be all that flashy or impressive but rather as a means to advance the plot. In fact a lot of it is used to show how Tsukasa manages as a leader by effectively using everyone to their fullest to deal with the challenges that they face. Especially when the longer they stay the more ambitious their ideas become. This is literally a tale of how these seven prodigies are taking over the world and so most of the time they face challenges rather quickly and easily hence the title of the show.

I do have one complaint though and it’s one I’ve said in shows before. It’s a little heavy on the fanservice at times. Now again I don’t personally mind fanservice in general but there is a limit and when that’s reached I’m not particularly happy about it. Thankfully these moments are very rare though we also had a couple of moments involving very creepy male characters and I get this is meant to make us want to hate them and see them taken down but it’s not something I enjoy watching. I feel like if we want a satisfying villain to see defeated there are other ways to make that happen but this only happens in two brief moments in the season.

Overall I was really impressed how this show managed to take seven characters and find ways for them to regularly be involved with the plot. The story does revolve mainly around Tsukasa but he is very dependent on working together with the other six prodigies and nobody really felt left out. I was constantly wowed by how the world literally changed in the course of the season and at the lofty ideas these seven have. It’s a great show but one that had a bit too much fanservice and creepy characters on rare occasion. Not show ruining in my opinion but you’ll notice it. I am really curious as it feels like season two will focus more on the story now that we’ve been introduced to the characters and I am wanting to see more.
