One of the things I love about the Vtuber community was something I didn’t learn about till after I started this series. This community is full of some of the kindest and most creative people I’ve had the privilege of knowing. Time and time again I am left in awe at how incredible these people are and today I get to share the story of someone who had dedicated their content to helping others. This is the story of the charity raccoon vtuber BlairBears.

The story of BlairBears starts with how she became the content creator she is today. Starting in 2015 she was once a face-cam streamer doing various “donate & dare” streams allowing donators to dare her to do silly things. Draw on her face, eat a silly sandwich, prank calls it was a fun and different time back then. Fast forward to 2019 and she participated in an event called “Extra Life United.” Using her Tetris Goddess of Garbo ways she raised $3000 for a local hospital and through various Tetris streams reached a pivotal goal in becoming a Twitch affiliate.

Then the pandemic started. With everything under lockdown it made raising money for charity a lot harder. Events that facilities like the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals relied on for funding were disrupted and it made things a lot harder for people in need. Wanting to help, BlairBears started streaming more consistently and even created a discord server. Calling herself a “streamboi” and amassing an army of raccoons for a good cause.

Things were going well till around 2022. Our benevolent content creator lost her mom to Cancer, the discord server was hacked and she even got Swat’d during a live stream. It was a lot to take in and it took her a couple of months to feel comfortable enough to come back to streaming. However, that was not enough to keep this kind soul from doing what she loves to do. She came back via the world of Vtubing with a lovable model, supportive friends and a goal to make a stronger community than ever before.

Today she has raised nearly $100,000 total and hitting incredible follower numbers. Over 5,000 on Twitch, 4,000 on Youtube and 30,000 on Tiktok this is someone who really shows the value in being a good person and one who is not willing to give up in the face of adversity. Even as I write this she did a stream today and raised over $500. Plus for those who love merch as much as I do there’s a heckin’ plushie on the way. To go with all of the merch already on her website like stickers, hoodies, T shirts and so much more.

Now the lore behind the Vtuber is equally amazing. BlairBears started off as a regular raccoon enjoying the scraps left behind by the kiddos in the community. In return she would steal goodies for them and leave them on their doorsteps. Though one adventure browsing through the garbage led to the discovery of a magical pocket watch. One glorious magical girl transformation later and the BlairBears we all know and love was born. Making great content and protecting the kiddos that cared for her in a time of need.
