The best way to sum this journey is that it’s an adventure of stories. Then we must ask, what is a story? To put it simply it’s the way we take something and immortalize it so that not even time can wither it away. So today we take our spotlight and shine it on a creator who’s very existence is to defy the forgetfulness of time. This is the story of the Sprout-Raccoon Vtuber, Mercury.

Time has a way of changing things. Take the place Mercury calls home. Our story starts in a quiet and peaceful village tucked away in the embrace of a vast and beautiful forest. The people were strange in our eyes, but kind to the wonders of Mother Nature. They thanked the roots before harvesting their crops, left rice for the shadows and told their children not to pay attention to the glowing eyes within the towering trees. Though Father Time comes for us all and with time came change. The forest and village slowly disappeared and in its place a skyscraper that buried the once lavish forest.

Some time after the building rose to the skies a nearby abandoned alley cracked open as something grew from below. Moss rose from the gaps and a breeze of fresh air filled the alleyway. Raccoon sprouted from within and in the center of all of this was a faint green slow. The glow of a girl new to the world around her and full of curiosity. The raccoons cared for her, kept her safe, and brought her gifts of all kinds. Various offerings of items scattered about which she accepted and found ways to weave the gifts into her life. Though she needed a name and she found one when she saw the rusted shell of a nearby car engraved with the word “Mercury,” a name she adopted for herself.

Now Mercury lives within the alley, climbing telephone poles for signal to watch her favorite raccoon videos. She especially loves the ones where they wash cotton candy. She brings with her an IV as she cannot go long without it and it provides much needed energy and vitality. While she has her adventures she enjoys sketching the things that she sees. As time moved forward people began to speak of the girl within the alley. If you leave an offering the raccoons will bring you a gift in return, they might even dance and if you’re really lucky you’ll get a glimpse of the glowing girl at the center of a forest that refuses to be forgotten, longing to be remembered.

The mind behind Mercury wanted to use the IV as part of her Vtuber designto create a visual element that represents her as she also has a chronic illness, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. These conditions significantly affect daily life and the ability to create content, so when tuning into her content she deserves great admiration for the work that goes into each stream she does.
