This is an older story of mine and one that I remember very fondly. We go all the way back to Dragoncon 2014 an event that I attended with my friend Samuel. Now during this event, we attended a panel where one of the hosts was Brian Brushwood who has a number of titles in his resume such as a magician, comedian, YouTuber and so many more, but before I continue this story I’ll need to explain some much-needed context.
Samuel and I have a third friend named Kevin who was not at the convention with us but is also a huge fan of Brian Brushwood. So big in fact that he actually learned the art of Fire Eating from one of the guides provided by Brushwood which you can see in this video. This video eventually reached Brian who shared it on his socials.
So fast forward to the panel Samuel and I greatly enjoyed it and we went up to him for a quick chat. Samuel is also a content creator who’s work can be found here. He happened to have an interview with Brian later that day so he wanted to reach out to schedule it. While we were talking I casually mentioned my friend Kevin and how I texted him to let him know just who we were talking to.
Brian without missing a beat asked to see my phone, which I agreed to, and he proceeded to text Kevin that “I always hated him and don’t want to be friends anymore.” I waited long enough till I thought Kevin saw the text then and told him who actually sent it.
Now Kevin and I have known each other since we were either 10 or 11 so there was no way he was going to believe the text was actually from me, both Samuel and I knew this. So Samuel was rather interested as to why I so eagerly handed Brian the phone when it was clear he would do something like this. Like clockwork Kevin responded to the text I sent and it was very clear he was overjoyed. Samuel and I read the text had a good laugh and there was no further explanation needed. Nearly 10 years later and I still think back to that moment with fond memories.
