So far on the vendor spotlight, I’ve highlighted great sources for anime merch; however, today let’s talk about a vendor who excels at providing the animes the merch comes from. Otaku Joe’s is a vendor that you can very easily recognize at a distance because you’ll notice the huge row of Blu rays complete with hundreds of animes. Naturally, this gets my attention every time I see this vendor because as a huge anime fan, it’s great to be able to see such a wide selection all at once and just be able to browse and quite easily find what I’m looking for.
I’ve seen a wide selection of animes before with online realtors, in-person stores, other vendors, etc but the fact is in all of my travels I’ve never seen a selection that equals much less surpasses what you’ll find at Otaku Joe’s. Frankly, where they attend a lot of events in my area, if I’m struggling to find an anime like I did with Gundam 00 I just wait till I find them at a convention and see if they have it, and spoiler alert they did. Not only that but when I got seasons one and two of 00 Otaku Joe’s was running a sale where you could get the animes half off if you pay in cash which was a deal, unlike anything I’ve seen from any other seller. Their prices are already competitive with major sellers but with a deal like that, I’ve never found a better price for the shows I enjoy.
The staff at Otaku Joe’s is fun to talk to as well with very chill and easygoing individuals that really know their stuff about the merch they sell. It’s clear this isn’t just a job for them but they also have a passion for the anime industry and that really adds to the shopping experience at their booths. They also offer a wide variety of anime merch such as posters and statues and it’s an impressive selection, but it’s also something I don’t personally pay nearly as much attention to because I’ve always found myself drawn towards the anime selection. Plus in my opinion lots of vendors offer merch like that on a similar scale, now that doesn’t mean that either Otaku Joe’s or their competitors are better or worse in that regard it just means that because of how close they are the selection I’m not going to particularly remember one booth over the other for what they have to offer regarding merch; however, Otaku Joe’s has a very wide selection in that area too.
So Otaku Joe’s offers easily the biggest selection of anime I’ve seen. Considering my experiences involve over 60 conventions including some of the biggest anime cons in the country such as Anime Expo, Anime NYC, and Anime Weekend Atlanta I can say with confidence that this is an impressive feat. They already sell at competitive prices but when they have sales the prices are unbeatable. The staff is knowledgeable and easy to talk to and the vendor offers anime merch on top of your favorite shows. Now while the merch is impressive I find their selection to be no more or less memorable than their competitors but really that’s fine because you might as well get your merch at Otaku Joes anyways if you’re going to spend all the time you need shopping at their impressive variety of shows you might as well get the merch you need to go with it all in one place.
